Results

The implementation of the project will have the following results in Mures County:

  • a network to prevent, combat and intervene in child abuse cases was created

  • an intersectoral team was established consisting of representatives of local authorities and non-governmental associations operating in the field of child protection

  • in General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Mures was developed the “Child Line and Mobile Team” service that have attributions to prevent, combat and intervention in cases of child abuse, neglect or exploitation. Headquarter in which it operates has been equipped with means necessary to conduct the activities (telephone, IT equipment, furniture).

  • Child Helpline 0800 800 8836 was activated, a free service for the population for reporting cases of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children

  • two methodological guides were drafted – one for a joint intervention involving child abuse events as well a guide for communication with children in danger of abuse ( illiterate children , children having mental infirmities or sensorial affections – being deaf, mute, blind and so on). At DGASPC Mures premises we conducted 6 sessions to disseminate the two methodological guide elaborated to a number of 247 persons:

On 5,6,7 april 2016 we conducted 3 sessions to disseminate to 100 policemen from Mures County, the two guides.

On 12 and 14 april 2016 we conducted 2 sessions to disseminate the two guides elaborated to a number of 102 social workers from the 102 Municipalities of Mures County

On 26 april 2016 we conducted a sessions to disseminate the two methodological guides to a number of 45 specialists from public institutions involved in preventing and combating violence against children.

Since the development of tools and methodologies of work for prevention and intervention in cases of risk is not effective without informing the community regarding their existence, six campaigns of information and awareness on the topic of abuse have been held in six localities from Mures County selected due to the high incidence of cases of abuse from them:

On May 11, 2016 in the Nades vilagge – to which attended more than 100 children, parents and teachers. The campaign promoted Child Helpline 0800800883 and promotional materials containing information about the project’s funders (hats, shirts, umbrellas, nets engraved) were distributed to participants. The campaign to which attended also the two project partners had an interactive and positive feedback (see Media gallery section ).

On May 12, 2016 in the Danes vilagge – to which attended more than 100 children, parents and teachers. The campaign promoted Child Helpline 0800800883 and promotional materials containing information about the project’s funders (hats, shirts, umbrellas, nets engraved) were distributed to participants. The campaign to which attended also the two project partners had an interactive and positive feedback (see Media gallery section ).

On May 16, 2016 in the Sarmasu vilagge – to which attended more than 150 children, parents and teachers. The campaign promoted Child Helpline 0800800883 and promotional materials containing information about the project’s funders (hats, shirts, umbrellas, nets engraved) were distributed to participants. The campaign to which attended also the two project partners had an interactive and positive feedback (see Media gallery section ).

On May 19, 2016 in the Iernut vilagge a campaign to raise awareness on the issues of child abuse have been held to which attended more than 150 children, parents and teachers. The campaign promoted Child Helpline 0800800883 and promotional materials containing information about the project’s funders (hats, shirts, umbrellas, nets engraved) were distributed to participants. The campaign to which attended also the two project partners had an interactive and positive feedback (see Media gallery section ).

On May 25, 2016 in the Tarnaveni vilagge a campaign to raise awareness on the issues of child abuse have been held to which attended more than 150 children, parents and teachers. The campaign promoted Child Helpline 0800800883 and promotional materials containing information about the project’s funders (hats, shirts, umbrellas, nets engraved) were distributed to participants. The campaign to which attended also the two project partners had an interactive and positive feedback (see Media gallery section ).

On June 1st, 2016 in Tirgu Mures town a campaign to raise awareness on the issues of child abuse have been held to which attended more than 300 children, parents and teachers. The campaign promoted Child Helpline 0800800883 and promotional materials containing information about the project’s funders (hats, shirts, umbrellas, nets engraved) were distributed to participants. The campaign, to which attended also the two project partners, had an interactive character (many competitions and games were organised and a positive feedback. (see Media gallery section )

  • Child Helpline specialists take incoming phone calls on a daily basis, offering advice and, depending on the severity of the case presented, go to specified location to take appropriate measures. Since its activation, a total of 509 cases of abuse, neglect or child exploitation were seized thru Child Helpline.

  • Psychologists from Save the Children Association offer psychological counseling to children whose risk was notified by Child Helpline. Till this date, more than 60 children were counseled.

  • Save the Children Association –Mures branch hold meetings and offers parenting education for parents whose children have been at risk. More than 40 parents received parental counseling in these months of the project.

On September 20, 2016 took place the closing conference of the project, which was attended by representatives of all institutions responsible for preventing and combating violence against children both in Mures County and from its counterparts in the Central region (from Alba -Iulia, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita, Sibiu). The representatives of the Mureş Prefecture, the Mureş County Council and leadership of institutions and organizations involved in the project had the opening speech. The following were described: the implemented project, its beneficiaries, achieved results and the difficulties encountered. The two methodological guides designed were presented to participants. There were discussions about utility of services created and the need for collaboration between institutions in preventing and combating abuse of children. Conclusion of all participants was that the project was a success and it can be replicated in other counties (for pictures, see Photo Gallery Section).
